Fun at home this month

I have been trying for a few days now to post new pictures on here from the past month - we've enjoyed fun at home, birthday parties, the fair. I will keep trying to share it. But I am giving up for tonight! Love to you all.

DEFEAT

Well, we didn't have the same outcome today. We had tears...lots of tears..."Let go of me" is what he told his teacher..."Mommy, don't leave me" and "I want to go with you" is what he told me......................

VICTORY

Ethan has been having such a hard time with separation anxiety. He struggles with transitioning when we drop him off at daycare. He cries & throws a fit for anywhere from 20 seconds to 20 minutes (the average is about 2 minutes). I hate that he feels abandoned. I hate that he struggles with his independence - I want him to love every minute of school. I hate that he disrupts his classmates. I hate that it delays my day.
We ordered a book to help teach him. It's called "The Goodbye Book". It is not the best resource ever...but something is making a difference....
No tears today! I am praying for the same outcome tomorrow.

CPR - what?

Recent research by Children's Hospital of Michigan found that only 1 in 5 teachers have CPR certification!
Considering that our children spend the majority of their waking hours in the school building each day this is not good news. One nurse (if you are lucky enough to have one at your child's school full time) cannot handle any health emergency that arises in the classroom. I firmly believe all teachers at all grade levels should be required to maintain current CPR & first aid certifications.

Note- I realize there are courses through American Heart Association that are not certified courses that teach all the basic appropriate info. I still advocate for certified course requirements. For teachers it would mean a few hours of training time every 1-2 years, but the information & skills gained could save countless children's lives.
