OUCH!

Ethan fell at the park & received his second set of stitches.
Everybody please pray that it doesn't get infected & doesn't leave a yucky scar.

Another prayer request

Please pray for Jarrod Worker (he's the new hubby of my cousin Miranda). He's BACK in Iraq.

today

Today I listened to a nurse peer of mine speak. She is an engaging speaker. She gets rave reviews in course evaluations on a consistent basis...But she had no references, no data, no evidence to support her claims. Interesting - Yes! Credible - No! How sad! What kind of impression is this making on the student's in this class? Will they now doubt all the material given to them in this class? That's my fear. But after some consideration I think most nurses (probably most adults) think like I do. They ponder - you know, chew things over & then spit out what is unacceptable, not validated. Nonetheless, it is my responsibility (although I don't think it'll be fun) to guide this colleague to EBP (evidence-based practice). She will have to include research & personal experience to support her claims.
For those who are outside of health care - Is evidence important to you?

by our love

I am just wondering can people tell I am a Christian? Am I loving? Do I show others my love? I again & again return to the scriptures that tell us to love God with all our heart, soul, strength & mind. And to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. And I think on the lyrics of Nicole Nordeman...I want to leave a legacy. How will they remember me? Did I choose to love? Did I point to you enough to leave a mark on things? A child of mercy & grace who blessed your name unapologetically - I want to leave that kind of legacy.
What am I doing that is different? That transcends this world? What opportunities and responsibilities am I neglecting? I read it in a book about servant leadership & heard it said today in a meeting "intention without action = squat". I judge myself on my intentions, but others on their actions. I may judge those I know really well on their intentions, but not most. How can I demonstrate and make evident my intentions?
No answers, just questions. Just seeking.

Prayer Request

1 - All the troops in Iraq (and everywhere else away from their families).
Especially lift up my cousin, Andrew Hickman.
2 - All those dealing with the floods in Texas, Colorado, England & Wales.
3 - My mother-in-law, Nancy Maples - she has elevated liver enzymes & is undergoing further testing.
4 - Please also pray for my favorite expectant moms -
Becky Blythe Jones (a close high school friend who is being induced as I type - She should have a baby girl very soon)
Amy Brackeen (my brother Jeff's wife - she'll be induced this Friday - I can't wait to meet baby Will)
Kip Kelly Brown (a college friend due in a month - they don't know if it's a girl or a boy).
Each mom is a first-timer. Please pray for them & keep them in your thoughts!!!!
